Blog Post #3

In this movie clip, the author's purpose is to open his teams eyes to help change the team mentality and to inspire a change amongst them all. He is trying to convince his team to come together as one team and work together as a team before they can learn to play the game. In my opinion, yes, this is an effective argument. The coaches goal is to change the overall mood of his team to help boost team moral. Another goal is to change the teams mindset to become more open minded of the players on the team and become more of a family rather than a group of men. His actions prove that by showing his team that others have fought for their right to play ball, they owe it to those who lost there lives to come together and show respect for the sport. This argument is in the values and choice tense. They need to value what others have done both on and off the field. Also that they need to make the  come together as a team in order to progress. Blog Post #2

My first example of rhetoric comes from my favorite local rider, Mike Aitken. Mike was riding a line that he had rode before and was comfortable on and threw a trick that he had dialed. Most times just out riding for fun but this time it was a photo shoot. He decided to go for one last run before going to eat and wasn't wearing his helmet. He landed on his face and suffered from a three week coma, complete right side paralysis, a brain stem injury, broken eye and jaw socket, tracheotomy, feeding tubes, and damaged vision. Since this crash he has had to re-learn how to swallow, walk, control his right side, and balance as seen in the second link.

The first video listed has the quote I would like to reference for this assignment. It happens during 1:33-1:43. Mike explains how he plans to get back on his bike but this time with a helmet. Mike is trying to encourage and support younger riders to wear a helmet overtime they ride. His attempt to persuade his audience consists of his extensive injury list, his experience and credibility as a rider, and all the footage they have of him in the second link provided. The third I decided to include shows mike back on his bike "jibbing" around five months after physical therapy.

My second example is from another one of my favorite street riders named Tom Dugan aka "Dang Dang" aka "The Duganator". This specific part is from 2:39-3:13 in this Props Bio and he is talking about Dr. Pepper.  He is trying to persuade you to not drink water and to only drink Dr. Pepper from Peter Pan Mini Golf because it is the best. Tom also tells us that water does nothing for our bodies and so thats why we should drink Peter Pan Dr. Pepper. Tommy uses the facts he knows about Peter Pan Dr. Pepper and compares it to water to prove that we should be drinking Dr. Pepper instead of water.

My name is Brittany Thomas. Back home I’m known as Cheddar. Home, for me, is West Valley City. I plan to get my associates in whatever I can and then transfer to Wyotech in Laramie, WY and become a certified auto/diesel mechanic. Something interesting things about myself are that I have cheated death, I have 7 bmx championship titles on 3 different levels, I'm currently a licensed and certified USA BMX Head Coach at the Virgin, Utah track, and I’ve had more concussions then I can count.

I currently ride for the Mohawk Mafia and have 15 other sponsors outside of my team. I love my bike more than words can explain. I've been racing for the last 9 years and am currently in contention to receive a NAG (National Age Group) plate. I also have a huge passion for cars and am a total grease monkey. I was raised in the garage and have spent more hours under a car than I care to admit. I spent the last winter tearing down and rebuilding the entire front end and engine on my 69' Z-28 Camaro and loved every second of it.
